Abstract
Bckground: Stress can have negative effects on safety awareness, but there is insufficient knowledge about the association between stress and use of seat belts in elders. Therefore, this study investigated the associations between stress and use of seat belts in Korean elders.

Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study used data from the second year of the 6th Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey implemented in 2014, conducted on 1,338 people aged 65 years and over. The chi-square test was used to confirm the relationship between stress perception and use of seat belts. Stress perception and use of seat belts were analyzed by a multiple logistic regression analysis with corrected variables.

Results: This study investigated the relationship between stress perception and use of seat belts in drivers and front-seat passengers aged 65 years and over. There was no significance between stress perception and use of seat belts.

Conclusion: The results of this study show that there is no relationship between stress perception and use of seat belts in people aged 65 years and over.
